Are you able to provide floors plans for the schools that will need cabling work?

Answer:
Floor plans will be provided at the mandatory site vists. If they become available before then we will post them as an attachment to this IFCB.

What term of support on the equipment are you looking for? 1yr, 3yr, 5yr, 7yr, 10yr?

Answer:
1 year. We co-term everything to the fiscal year.

Will you have a separate content filter?

Answer:
Yes, we have a separate content filter.

Do you need 1Gbps or 10Gbps SFP's?

Answer:
 1Gbps

What type of existing pathway exists in the buildings? Is there cable tray, sleeves, firestop pathways (STI, Hilti, etc), J-Hooks in place for main corridor pathways?

Answer:
All new. Some pathways exist, most will have to be established.

Does any closet hardware get swapped in the MDFs? What existing cabinets/wall racks/floor racks are present that need replaced? (quantity, size, type, brand, etc)

Answer:
Not in the MDFs. But for sure in the IDFs.

What cable management both rear & front and horizontal & vertical are requested. Materials are not listed in the specs.

Answer:
We plan on discussing this tomorrow at the on-site meeting. If you can attend, we encourage you to do so. Notes from that meeting will be made available as part of this IFCB ASAP.

Pre-bid meeting described desire to have all locations be surface mount using single gang box and 4 port faceplate. Specs call out using 1-12 port surface mount boxes for the project. Are these boxes required in any instance?

Answer:
As discussed at the meeting, single gang/4 port. That was a simple refinement from the spec.

Spec pages request UPS for each IDF. What UPS is requested for installation?

Answer:
A UPS that fits the rack that he proposes. We didn't specify APC, Tripp-Lite, Liebert, etc...

Why are some lines Plexar? Does the school need Plexar functionality, or can regular analog lines be bid?

Answer:
Plexar is a legacy service - we will accept bids for basic analog lines to replace this service.

Would the district be interested in a separate quote for the installation of 50 micron fiber to give the district 10gig capabilities in the future?

Answer:
 No

Are there more documents for PROJECT 2 besides what is uploaded? My engineer was onsite for a walk-through today but had a lot less documentation than other folks in the room. The documentation that was posted online is not everything that others had. Thanks

Answer:
There was one document that we may have missed,

NeoshoRewirespecifics.docx

That document has now been uploaded to this IFCB (click the attachment at the top of the services and equipment box). The 28 day bid window has been re-set as of today and everyone will now have an additional 28 days to place bids. Otherwise, all documents are listed as attachments on this IFCB.

On the locations with additinal drops in the room. Are these locations seperate drop locations or the drops going to be combined? Example, At Goodman there are 5 locations that have 14 extra drops and 1 that has 40 drops.

Answer:
Where there are 14 or 40 drops are either eMINTS rooms(14) or labs(40). I'm not really understanding the question. The drops are notated very clearly on the drawings and they'll either be ran to an IDF or MDF. All home runs to either an IDF or MDF.

What Plexar functions are currently being used?

Answer:
Plexar lines were listed as a legacy service. If you would like to bid regular analog lines to replace our Plexar lines we are okay with that.

My question is. Of the 14 and 40 drops are they single drop locations or are the locations going to be combined? Example, 14 drops so if there sre 2 drops per location then that means there is a total of 7 locations. My reasoning for the questions is to determine how many faceplates/raceway I will need for these additional drops.

Answer:
I think I get this now. They are multiple drop locations within the room, whether they be 14 or 40. Wiring will be contingent upon individual room layout.

At the pre-bid we were requested to bid 50um fiber. Site and specs say only 62.5. What is the final request? Documents say installer is to patch in the IDFs. How do we know what to provide in terms of length of patch cords and what about station ends? Which installer is required to patch in relating to above question? Cable installer or hardware provider/installer? Are we required to use the Leviton 49991-MLC fiber connector? Will an epoxy & polish LC connector be acceptable?

Answer:
We will accept both 50um and 62.5um, however 50um is fine since it seems to be the standard these days. On patch cords bidders need to bid common lengths for both the patch panel and the end user. Installers, per spec, are required to provide patch cables. Yes, use the spec-ed Leviton 49991-MLC fiber connectors.

Thanks,

Will the distric accept a different manufacture for cabling?

Answer:
We want to stick to the specifications listed and may choose to award more points to the vendor that bids the specifications. Per E-rate rules, bids for functionally equivalent cabling/equipment will be accepted.

115 E Brook is not a valid USPS address, while 115 W Brook IS a valid address. Should the reference to E Brook Street be changed to W Brook Street? 1002 E South Street is not a valid USPS address, please provide a valid address for this locatin. Thanks

Answer:
Thank you for catching these errors.
115 E Brook should be changed to 115 W Brook
1002 E South is actually 1120 Carl Sweeny Parkway.  This is Benton Elementary.
