Questions Received with Applicant Answers   ( Ask Questions? )

Is this school district interested in Hosted VoIP? Thank you.

Answer:
No, hosted VoIP is not requested on this IFCB.

I would like clarification if the equipment on the attached list is part of the WAN connections requested. As part of the "Tennessee 8" questions in an E-Rate PIA review, one of the questions asked is "if the WAN goes down, will the LAN still work and if the LAN goes down will the WAN still work?" The RFP for Dickinson asks for very specific equipment and POE requests which indicate the school is interested in using the POE functionality on the vendor provided WAN switch. This is a no-no with E-Rate. The easiest for us would be to supply just the SFP or XFP modules for the lit leased service inside of their district owned switches. Otherwise, we'll have a WAN switch sitting next to their LAN switch which is jumpered together. They cannot use any ports on a vendor provided WAN switch. Please clarify this request of the RFP. Thanks.

Answer:
You are getting our projects mixed up. The request for equipment is a request to purchase that equipment (Category Two request – the applicant will own that equipment when/if funded for it). The WAN project is a totally separate project (Category One) and should be bid that way.

Can you please clarify which is the hub site for the 1G and 10G WAN connections requested?

Answer:
BMS is the NOC/hub for all

The 1Gs will be:

JSE
KEL
SLE
CRE
BCE
HRE
DCC/DALC

All non-student sites

The 10Gs will be:

DMS
BMS
MJH
DHS

Would you like configuration and installation services for the bill of materials provided?

Answer:
 Yes

Which campus is JSE? Can you also confirm that BMS stands for Barber Middle School and that KEL stands for Kenneth Little Elementary? Is it possible to get a list with the site name and address to avoid any confusion? It is stated that the hub is BMS for all the links, but BMS is also mentioned as an end location for a 10G link. Looks like a site for a 10G is missing or incorrect.

Answer:
 KEL: Kenneth E. Little Elementary

SLE: San Leon Elementary

HRE: Hughes Road Elementary

JSE: Jake Silbernagel Elementary

CRE: Calder Road Elementary

BCE: Bay Colony Elementary

BMS: Barber Middle School

DMS: Dunbar Middle School

MJH: McAdams Jr. High School

DHS: Dickinson High School

DALC/DCC: Dickinson Alternative Learning Center/ Dickinson Continuation Center

I apologize: BMS (the NOC) is the hub

Will Dickinson ISD accept bids for refurbished or recertified equipment?

Answer:
We are not requesting bids for refurbished or recertified equipment.

Are respondents required to be a Cisco Authorized Partner?

Answer:

We would greatly prefer bids from an authorized reseller.

Will partial bids be accepted?

Answer:
Yes, but we may choose to award more points to those companies that bid a complete solution.

1.It looks like there may have been valid configs for these items, but they took out any “no charge” line items and broke this down into separate line items. For example, the first 10 or so line items almost make a valid 4510 config. But they show the chassis as a spare. The rest of the line items are not listed as spares, and there are several missing components. Spared or otherwise we would want to know if there is a preference on the IOS and also what power cords. I can do my best to decipher what they really mean, but this will change some of the part numbers. I’m sure that we are not the only ones to notice this, so I’m guessing that someone else is going to ask for clarification.

Answer:
The part numbers provided are suggested numbers only.

If there are promotions or preconfigured upgrade deals that would make more sense financially or technically then please provide them.

MDF core switches, like the 4510 would need enterprise software. All other switches would get IP base.

1. What version of IOS? 2. Can you specify the power cords needed for each device 3. The first 9 line items for Dickinson HS appear to be a valid configuration or a chassis and components. However, the chassis is listed as a spare part. Is the intent to purchase this as a configured/assembled chassis, or to order these components as spare parts. 4. McAdams JH – should these parts be spares? 5. Barber MS - assumed 3850- configured 3850s with dual power—Network Modules as spares, is that correct? 6. If the schools doesn’t show a complete configuration, do you want those quoted as spares? 7. On the 3850 switches do you want power stacking cables? 8. There are several switch part numbers listed as 3508, 3580…we are assuming these are typos and the intent was the 3850 series switches, can you confirm? 9. At Dunbar MS. There is a 4506 Bundle that can be ordered as-is, which includes the Sup 7L-E and two 48 port blades. This bundle can be upgraded to a Sup8E and the 48 port UPOE blades. It is not clear if the intent here was to order the bundle as-is and also order the Sup*E and UPOE blades as spare (possibly for an existing chassis) can you clarify the intent. (there may be several instances where this bundle was specified) 10. Many of the 3850 series switches will include stacking cables for both data stacking and power stacking. It is common on larger stacks to require longer stacking cables to complete the stack. There are several instances where the number of longer stacking cables (1M or 3M) are the same count as the switches requested. Also, there does not appear to be any requests for the longer power stacking cables. Can you clarify the intent, regarding this.

Answer:
 1. What version of IOS? Campus cores would receive Enterprise Services. All other switches would receive IP BASE.

2. Can you specify the power cords needed for each device? 3850 switches will use a North America AC Type A Power Cable. CAB-US515P-C19-US should work for Chassis Switches.

3. The first 9 line items for Dickinson HS appear to be a valid configuration or a chassis and components. However, the chassis is listed as a spare part. Is the intent to purchase this as a configured/assembled chassis, or to order these components as spare parts? This should be a configured/assembled/complete chassis.

4. McAdams JH – should these parts be spares? MJH has existing chassis switches. All chassis parts will upgrade existing chassis already onsite.

5. Barber MS - assumed 3850- configured 3850s with dual power—Network Modules as spares, is that correct? All references to 3508 should be 3850. Each closet will have 2 switches with dual power, all others will have single power supplies. Each closet will have 2 switches with Network modules. In the MDF there are 4 different cabinets that contain switches. Please treat as 4 closets in the MDF.

6. If the schools doesn’t show a complete configuration, do you want those quoted as spares? Some schools already have chassis switches. The upgrades are for 60watt power. They should be spare parts unless it is more cost effective to take advantage of a bundle.

7. On the 3850 switches do you want power stacking cables? YES, I was told by Cisco that the 3850 comes with power stacking cables.

8. There are several switch part numbers listed as 3508, 3580…we are assuming these are typos and the intent was the 3850 series switches, can you confirm? YES

(there may be several instances where this bundle was specified) DMS – IDFD does not have a chassis switch currently. This should be a complete chassis configuration.

10. Please include longer stacking cables for data and power where stacks are larger than 3 switches.
