Questions Received with Applicant Answers   ( Ask Questions? )

Does the district have any preferred brand of equipment?

Answer:
No we don't. We would like the best equipment we can get at an affordable price.

1. What is the end user using for their WLAN currently? 2. Is the end user available for a web demo overview?

Answer:
Currently we don't have a WLAN really setup for our wireless.  We do have several Cisco access points set up throughout the district.  We currently have several laptops, some iPads, and a few Chrome books.  What the district needs is a WLAN set up with a controller to help manage the access points.  It would be great if we had a school side and a public side. We can be available for a webinar.

little confusing on the 4 x 1gig Wan setup. are they looking for 4 layer2 PTP circuits. each going back to the main hub site?

Answer:
Currently we have a 1 gig fiber connections to each school and to the central office. But the way ATT did this everything has to go through their building first and then back to whichever school or central office. What we need is a direct connection to the central office and then back to each school.

With the middle school, it needs to be redone so different areas within the building has a direct fiber connection to the core switch at the middle school. I'm thinking we could do this in 3 zones 4 would be better.

WAN Connections – 4 x 1 GB connections.- Will the district provide the switches at each of the locations and if so, what is the Manufacturer/Model#? If the switches are provided be the district, is there a 1 Gbps port available at each of these locations switches?

Answer:
We have Extreme switches -  x450e's and 150's.  The 450's and the head switch at each school. Yes we do have a 1gig port at each switch.  Each also has a gbic and fiber jumper.

have listed the walk date as New site visit date and time: Wednesday the December 18th at 9:00 that date does not exist. can you clarify which date. Thanks,

Answer:
Thank you for catching that - it is Wednesday the 16th at 9 am, not the 18th. Corrections to this IFCB have been posted.

What is the size of your core internet connection in Mbps? How much of this is bandwidth is consumed by students/teachers at peak times in Mbps?

Answer:
We currently run at 150 Mbps to the internet.  Usage can get to 100%

How many concurrent users do you have at peak times

Answer:
Number of concurrent students would be around 30.

How much do you expect to increase you bandwidth, and number of student devices in the next 3 years?

Answer:
I would like to increase our bandwidth to a gig over time.  Computer growth will depend on student growth.  We would like to see 1 to 1.

Are any of your school sites connected individually to their own internet link, independent from the remainder of the school district? Please provide bandwidth capacity at that/those schools, and the number of students at each.

Answer:
All school sites are connected via a 1 gig fiber to the central office.  No school site is on it's own.  From the central office we go to the internet at 150 meg.  Number of students:  HS 401, MS 289, Elem 688
