Equipment will serve all four campuses – Elementary, Intermediate, Middle and High School. Approximately 200 rooms at four buildings for the wireless project and approximately 6 buildings/14 closets total for the switch project. Locations are already established and the fiber between the closets is in place.

This includes single-mode connections for 4 of the locations and multimode connections for the remaining two locations. Layer-3 switches need to be deployed. In addition, we require gigabit switches for our classroom connectivity. This would entail a total of approx. 960 ports. We also seek additional wireless access points for connectivity increase throughout our buildings. Total number of new WAP approx. 220. Approx. 2 cables per WAP. Approx 30 devices per WAP will be connected.

Questions Received with Applicant Answers   ( Ask Questions? )

What manufacturer/model switches and access points do you currently have deployed? Can you provide a network diagram/topology?

Answer:
We are a 3com/HP shop for all switches at this time.  Most are 3com, however many of the new ones are (of course) HP.  I do not have an accurate wiring diagram of our campuses/district.

Do you want the hardware installed?

Answer:
Yes – I want the hardware installed, tested and configured.

Your bid states that you are adding additional wireless access points. What brand Access Points do you currently have?

Answer:
We have some ENGENIUS – but most ap’s are ubiquity

Is the district going to schedule a walk through for the equipment vendors wishing to place a bid? Also, will the district provide electrical/communications drawings of the campuses?

Answer:
We will allow one voluntary walkthrough on 1/29/15 at 9 am. Go to 406 N. Bledsoe, Gilmer, TX 75644. Drawings are not available.

Answer:
 802.11N please

Is Internet with DSL minimum to be installed at the same address as the primary circuit?

Since your current AP's are ENGENIUS – but mostly are ubiquity are you wanting to stay with these or try a new Vendor?

Answer:
I am open to a new manufacturer.  My goal is to increase connectivity and speed.  If that can be done with a different brand, that is fine.  If we can accomplish this through adding more of the same brand, then that would work as well.

How many AP's do you have deployed currently? How many locations currently? What are the model numbers for the Ubiquity AP's you are using? How many users does an AP need to support?

Answer:
How many AP\'s do you have deployed currently? At my High School and Jr. High (my most important areas) – we have one AP per classroom.  This is a total of 90.

How many locations currently?
There are 4 locations with wireless AP’s – however, both the high school and Jr. High have multiple buildings.  To total number of structures is:8.

What are the model numbers for the Ubiquity AP\'s you are using?
Ubiquiti UniFi Access Point,  UAP-3

How many users does an AP need to support?
We are running into interference from cell phones and classroom tablets.  I would like for each room to be able to handle 50 connections.
