Questions Received with Applicant Answers   ( Ask Questions? )

What are you requirements for wireless? Is this a complete wireless refresh or are you adding on to existing infrastructure? Are you willing to explore other vendors for switching?

Answer:
We are adding to current wireless, and we are open to other vendors that work with our current switching.

What is University City currently using for wireless?

Answer:

We have ubiquity access points.

With ubiquity being the incumbent, what factors are you considering for other vendors?

Answer:
Primarily cost and durability of product.

Where will the access points be placed? How many clients per AP?

Answer:

The list of locations is on the RFP, and the list of locations is primarily classrooms with 30 clients per AP (on average)

How are we splitting up the switches for UPS coverage? Will the switches be fully populated? Will the switches have dual power supplies? What type of outlet do you have available in each environment for the UPS to plug into? Do you want remote/network manageability? How much runtime on the UPS are you looking for? Will the UPSs mount in 2 post or 4 post racks?

Answer:
We will go with 3 switches to one UPS and 2 switches to the other. We will have space on the switches to grow into. We may have some switches with one power supply and some with dual based on cost. 110 outlets on two different circuits. Yes on remove management. 90 minute runtime. Four post. racks

1. Can you provide the floor plans for the four (4) Elementary schools? a. Identify on the drawings the location of the MDFs / IDFs b. Identify the location of the existing APs c. Identify any existing “code compliant” / established cable pathways if any. 2. Identify the make / model of the existing APs. I am assuming the current APs are all PoE. 3. Can you send pics of the existing MDFs / IDFs? 4. Is your goal 100% wireless coverage of the internal areas of each school? If not, please identify any areas where wireless coverage is optional or not needed.

Answer:

Question 1: That information is not available at this time, but we are trying to generate it. If it is available, we will post an update to the IFCB next week.

Question 2: Ubiquity Pro all POE

Question 3: That information is not available at this time, but we are trying to generate it. If it is available, we will post an update to the IFCB next week.

Question 4: We are hoping to get to 100%. We don't believe that this project will complete this, but it is a long-term goal.

What Model Access Points are you currently using and what would be the newest model you are looking to upgrade to for ubiquity so we can know an equivalent model.

Answer:

The lastest access point that we installed was: Ubiquiti Networks Unifi 802.11ac Dual-Radio PRO Access Point (UAP-AC-PRO-US) We would like this or better (of course, bids for functionally equivalent equipment will be accepted).

1. Are you using CAT6 Plenum Cable for your AP’s? 2. What is the average distance that is required for your new cabling Runs (supporting your AP’s)? 3. Would you like us to standardize cable run lengths as a not to exceed length of 150 or 200 Ft? 4. Do you MDF’s/IDF’s have open Patch Panel ports to support your new Cables runs/AP’s? 5. Do you have floor plans or heat maps for the schools receiving AP’s? 6. Is the Customer needing a Wireless Assessment to be preformed? To show best coverage and placement of AP’s for their Campuses? 7. Do the switches need 1G or 10G uplinks? Do they need POE? If so, just POE or full POE+? 8. Do you need stacking modules for the switches? 9. Do you want the SFP's to be 1G or 10G? Do you need multimode or singlemode? 10. On the RFP 50 switches and 70 WAP's are requested. But under Category 1, a qty of 25, 48 port switches and a qty of 50 SFP's are listed. Can you confirm the quantities needed?
