Questions Received with Applicant Answers   ( Ask Questions? )

1. Prior to the onsite meetings, can the end user attend a web demo? 2. What is being used for the current WLAN infrastructure?

Answer:
 1. Prior to the onsite meetings, can the end user attend a web demo?

No web demos will be attended prior to the onsite meetings.

2. What is being used for the current WLAN infrastructure?

Our current wireless network equipment is connected at 1Gbps over CAT5e cabling into managed switches.  Please clarify if that wasn't what you were looking for.

Will floor plans be provided for the wifi project prior to the walkthrough? And, will Ruckus Wireless 3x3 or 4x4 APs be considered as an equivalent to the Aruba 3x3 AP?

Answer:
The wireless AP bid will be a "box sale," with no installation or setup being looked for.  No floor plans will be needed or provided, even at the walk through, for the wireless AP project.

Best I can tell, the ZoneFlex R700 seems to be an AP equivalent to the Aruba AP model specified.  Not knowing anything about the controller side of Rukus, it would need to be cloud managed, and any licensing/service fees/etc. to make it work for the next 5 years should be included (since the Aruba IAPs come with lifetime cloud management).

On the HP equipment...The 24 and 20 modules that you are asking for do they need to be poe? You are wanting the chassis that comes preloaded with a 24 and a 20 port module? That has one power supply. Is that sufficient?

Answer:
 Yes, all PoE copper ports.

Not sure how the chassis switches come, I've never bought one new.  The port counts listed in the request cover all needed ports.

We have an existing switch of the same model on campus running with dual power supplies.  Please quote the 2nd power supply as a separate line item for a fair comparison to any bids that come in with a single power supply.

What is the address where the POTS lines will terminate? If multiple addresses, please list each demarc address.

Is bid 1 strictly cabling and no connectivity? I noticed on Bid 4 you have the patch panels on this bid. Are these patch panels in addition to what we will need to terminate cabling or is this for the cabling? If it is for the cabling. Do we need to price the termination of the cabling into the patch panels provided in bid 4? Will you please clarify.

Answer:
Is bid 1 strictly cabling and no connectivity? Bid 1 is cabling only, as in no internet/network services are needed.  Termination is still required at both ends of each requested cable.

I noticed on Bid 4 you have the patch panels on this bid. Are these patch panels in addition to what we will need to terminate cabling or is this for the cabling?

The patch panels listed in Bid 4 only account for what is needed for the lab cabling, and will not be enough to cover the full London building re-cable.  If not bidding on bid 1, these patch panels can be left out of the bids, and will be taken out of consideration in bid comparisons.  Sorry for the confusion.

Do we need to price the termination of the cabling into the patch panels provided in bid 4?  Termination is needed on all bid 1 cabling and should be included in bids.

Does the qyt of needed patch panels include what cabling will be added or does the bidder need to include additional patch panels for the added cabling?

Answer:
After review, it looks like the patch panel quantity for Project/bid 4 includes what is needed for all of the lab wiring (requested in Project/bid 1), but not the full London building rewire.  Patch panels will need to be included in the bids for Project/bid 1.
