CATEGORY TWO PROJECT DETAILS:

There is another document available for download (Miami C2 List) that details the equipment the applicant is seeking at each school.  Applicant prefers all WAPs to be Aruba 205/215/225. They already have an Aruba Controller Box in the district and would like to stay with the brand.  Cable lengths will be all different lengths for these projects and will need to be installed by the winning vendor.  Applicant prefers local companies to do the cable runs.

There are two Category Two Projects.  Project A is for cabling only.  Project B is for WAPs and controller.  Do NOT combine Projects on one bid – each project should be bid on separately.  Please include pricing for installation, activation, and/or initial configuration costs.  We would like for you to submit your bids in your normal format – a word/excel/PDF as you normally would (in addition to the required templates).  The winning vendor will be required to complete, for each school (and all shared equipment), the 2016 USAC C2 Templates when they become available.

There is an additional document associated with this IFCB. Please click the buttons to download the document.

Questions Received with Applicant Answers   ( Ask Questions? )

The narrative states they already have an Aruba Controller in the district. Yet the "Project B" states it is for WAPs and controller. There are WAPs on the C2List but no controller. Does a controller need to be quoted?

Answer:
We currently have an Aruba Controller that will allow up to 512 Access Points throughout the district. No need to quote a new controller.

Is the cabling on Project A only for the WAPs in Project B? For example, Nichols UE has 21 drops but 14 WAPs. What are the various the building construction, drop ceilings, solid ceilings?

Answer:
No at Roosevelt and Nichols there are additional cabling jobs so the access points currently being used can be relocated into classrooms. Wilson, Washington, and Rockdale cabling on project a is only for project b. Roosevelt, Rockdale, Nichols,Wilson, and Washington have drop ceilings.

Hello, We will be bidding on the Miami school district. To get pricing for our proposal we will need to do a site survey to see if any construction would be necessary to provide service. Our engineer who does the survey will likely need to get inside the building to complete the survey. Who should our engineer contact when he does the site survey? Regards, Devin Walker

site survey time will be available during either of the mandatory walkthroughs

Are you open to accept offer for CLOUD PBX Service with origination ,termination and DID along with APP on Smartphone

Answer:
No, those services are not requested.

Will you be submitting a separate RFP for the district's WAN connections?

Answer:
At this point we do not plan to do so.

Will you require the mounting hardware for drops ceilings for the Aruba AP's? If you require the mounting brackets will the school be installing them or will this be expected of the contractor?

Answer:
We will not require mounting brackets.  I just need what comes in Aruba Box and Miami will be putting the Arubas in the ceiling.

Do you need voicemail or auto attendant or does your phone system handle it? Also, at which locations will there be local phone lines? And how many local lines at these locations?

Answer:
We will not need voicemail/auto attendant through the bidder we already have software in place that does the voicemail and auto attendant.  The location and quantity of phone lines have been asked and answered by another vendor, see the Q&A’s on the IFCB.

How many Email allocations?

Answer:
 500

On the cabling portion, will we be using Cat 5e or cat 6? Plenum or Riser? Brand specific?

Answer:
I do not have a preference for Cat 5e or Cat 6. Riser cable will be fine.  We do not need plenum.  It does not matter on the brand.

On the cabling, will we be installing any patch panels? If so Cat 5e or Cat 6? Modular or 110 style punch down? Do we need to provide patch cables? Length?

Answer:
Patch panels - yes, modular. No to patch cables I will supply those. You can bid either Cat 5e or Cat 6.
