Questions Received with Applicant Answers   ( Ask Questions? )

1) Are there (150) individual telephone lines? 2) Or do you mean (150) DID numbers? 3) Are all lines at the same address? if not, please provide breakdown by address? 4) Are all lines analog? Or is the local phone service T1 or PRI? 5) Are the current services out of contract?

Answer:
The district is cancelling the request for voice services on this IFCB/470. Quantities listed for the voice service are not accurate and will be rebid in the future via a separate 470/IFCB. Please do not bid voice services on this IFCB.

1. What are you currently using for your WLAN (APs, Switches)? 2. Will there be time for a brief demo overview via Webinar?

Answer:
We've recently switched all our equipment to HP.  WAC is HP MSM720, AP's are MSM410 and 430 and switches are HP Procurve 2810-48G or HP 2920 or similar.  We are not interested in a webinar at this time.

- Are you looking to expand your existing Wi-Fi network or upgrade the system completely ?

Answer:
We are looking to expand our existing.

Do you currently have an iPad caching server? If so, can you please share the make and model?

Answer:
 Mac Mini 2.6 Ghz I7

8 GB Ram

2 - 1 TB HD

Server App version 5.0.15

Are you requesting bids for 150 voice trunks? If answer is Yes, are trunks analog, PRI, or SIP?

Under Narrative 2 it says that service providers are required to Bid the entire project. On the Word Document, Stockton C2 List, it shows Projects A-G - are those the projects you are referring to? Can we bid everything but the Cabling?

Answer:
You are required to bid all components of any individual project A-G. If you just wanted to bid on one (or a few) of the Projects A-G, that would be fine as long as your individual project bids are complete and use the correct templates. You do not have to bid all C2 projects.

On your request for 150 lines, are the lines analog, PRI, or SIP? What make and model of your PBX?

Answer:
The district is cancelling the request for voice services on this IFCB/470. Quantities listed for the voice service are not accurate and will be rebid in the future via a separate 470/IFCB. Please do not bid voice services on this IFCB.

How many total 10G GBICs are needed? It reads like there would be a total of three, but I'd like to verify that please.

Answer:
 A total of 18.

Elem would have a quote for 3 for the 24 port switches and 3 more for the 48 port switch.

MS would have a quote for 3 for the 24 port switches and 3 more for the 48 port switch.

HS would have a quote for 3 for the 24 port switches and 3 more for the 48 port switch.

What were the Q&As on the first walkthrough?

Answer:
 High School-

Have we had an RF for wireless coverage?
When we built the high school in 2008 we had one for the high school.  We have not for the town campus.

How old is the high school?
7 years

Is this a 2.4 or 5 GHz environment?
Mixed

Do you have density problems?
We don’t really have any at the high school in the front wings.  More of the back of the building-commons, art wing and ag wing. There may be a little loss in the science wing.  The town campus has a lot of issues.

Plans for 1:1?
No, we currently have BYOD (bring your own device) at the high school.  The town campus has pretty good mobile device coverage.

Do you have a wireless access controller?
Yes

What are you looking for with wireless?
Better coverage especially on the town campus.

How many devices are currently on wireless?
Elem-about 10 per classroom
MS-maybe up to 20 per classroom
HS-maybe around 25 all together

How many kids are at the high school?
About 370

Do you have a guest network? How do you handle the password?
Yes, we manually type in for now but in the process of changing them to an AD login.

Are you looking to replace AP & Controller at high school?
APs only

AG has their own wireless router

How old are the switches at the high school?
7 years

Primary building-

Where is the fiber terminated?
In the primary building closet to a Cisco 2960

Red Brick-

Cabling in the upstairs library- cleaned up or replace?
Would be okay to just clean up

Which buildings would you want rip and replace?
I would like a quote for all buildings at the town campus then see what would be a priority.  The Hex building and the Education building would be on the priority list to replace.

Wireless-Looking for an all in one solution?
We currently have an all in one with both campuses on the same access controller

If all the buildings are connected with fiber they could use one controller – something like the 7030 (64 AP’s) or the 7205 (256 AP’s) to give them room to grow. There’s nothing in between those two at the moment. If not we can just use whichever controller is the correct size for each building. Otherwise, since this is a pretty small deployment they could completely ditch the controller and go Instant to save a few grand in hardware and licensing. I would recommend this over a controller for this size deployment unless they specifically need more security, but that’s not spelled out at all. Is it necessary that the school has a controller included in this solution for security reasons?

Answer:
Thank you for the recommendations – that is helpful. At this point, however we ask that you bid the project as listed.

What is the size of your core internet connection in Mbps? How much of this bandwidth is consumed by teacher/student activity at peak times during the day?

Answer:
We have a 100MB connection with only 40MB active.  Peak times usually run about 30MB.

By how much do you expect to increase the size of your internet connection, and number of student devices in three years?

Answer:
We may increase our active connection to 60MB.

How many student & teacher devices are connected to the internet concurrently at peak times during the day?

Answer:
I would say there are approximately 300 student & teacher devices connected to the internet concurrently at peak times during the day.

Do you have any school sites that are served by their own internet link, independent of the rest of the school district? If so, please confirm the bandwidth capacity at those sites/site, and number of students at each location.

Answer:
We do not have any school sites.  Our bus barn is the only location that is independent.

Hi! I don't see anything in the documentation regarding labor (outside of cabling). Is there anything in this RFP for configuring the switches and/or wireless?

Answer:
Yes -  configuring switches should be included but not wireless.

After going on the walkthrough yesterday, I was curious if we could quote access points that work with 802.11 AC instead of just the N protocol. The MSM430's only do N and with the additional throughput that will be needed, can we go with a higher grade MSM as part of this bid or do you want us to stick with the 430 and N protocol?

Answer:
Solutions must comply with the listed specifications. However, if a higher grade MSM is available and will provide better coverage at a cost effective price, we would like to receive a quote for that.

In the primary building, will all new cabling home run to the closet next to the Elementary lab? There was some talk about a future IDF location between rooms 306 and 311.

Answer:
I think the elementary lab should be within distance to have all cables ran back to the one location.

1.Is there a wage order or prevailing wage associated with this project? 2.During the walk through in the Elementary building it was noted that all cabling will home run to the closet next to the Elementary Computer lab. Then they mentioned adding an IDF in the east end hallway. If this is required, are we providing the backbone from MDF and what type (copper or fiber)? 3.Per IFCB DOCUMENTS, there is a Project E Racks. Does this project provide all racks required for the cabling project? 4.Per the Stockton C2 List doc. There are only two schools, Elementary and Middle School that are listed to be bid under the cabling project. On the walk through we toured 5 total sites. Do we bid each individual building as a separate quote or do multiple buildings encompass the Middle and Elementary schools? 5.What is the proposed start and end dates for Project A Cabling? If the work is to be performed while school is still in session, will the old cabling need to remain live while the new cabling is being installed? 6.Can you please clarify what specific buildings require rip and replace cabling? On the questions from the 1st walkthrough it states that, “cabling in Red Brick library can just be cleaned up” but the documents provided appear to require all cables get replaced. 7.Per my notes from the walk thru we are adding 2 new data cables to every classroom. Are these (2) cables in addition to existing locations that are getting replaced?

Answer:
 1. There will be a prevailing wage order – we should have that published to this IFCB by the close of business tomorrow.

2. After stepping the distance out, all cables will run back to the main closet next to the elementary lab.

3. Unclear what you are asking here – These are for the main switches as they specify threaded holes. We would use the new equipment requested along with the current racks we have for the switches.

4.  The elementary consists of the Hex, Primary and part of the Red Brick buildings.  The middle school consists of Admin, Education and part of the Red Brick buildings.  If they can be broke down per individual buildings, that would be better since we are looking at specific buildings.

5. Start and end dates depend on when E-rate funding is provided, but if we are funded early we would like the installs to happen from May - July.   During school-old cabling need to remain live?  Yes

6.  The buildings with the highest priority would be the Hex and the Education buildings.  The red brick would probably just be cleaned up (cables straightened up and labeled) if anything at this time.

7. 2 new data cables in addition to existing locations.
